India's only medal hope and World No. 4 Sankar Muthusamy enters into the semi-finals of the BWF World Junior Championship 2022. It was disappointing to the Indian contingent which had settled in 13th position in the mixed-team events and all the remaining players has exited before the quarter-finals.

Sankar won the quarter-finals against China's Hu Zhe An by of 21-18,08-21, 21-16 in 01 hr 31 mins long deciding contest. He is going to be the 10th Indian to win the BWF World Junior Championship medal for the country. Even though the Indian contingent has disappointed in mixed-team events, Sankar is giving confidence and cruising into the quarter-finals by winning all the matches in straights.
India has won 09 medals so far from the BWF World Junior Championships. The only gold won by India was in 2008 by Saina Nehwal.
