Olympic medalist P. V. Sindhu conducted the groundbreaking ceremony at Arilova in Visakhapatnam on Thursday, November 7, 2024 for PV Sindhu Center of Badminton Excellence. The event marked the initiation of a new facility aimed at fostering and supporting athletes from various sports and disciplines in Visakhapatnam.
In her social handles, PVS wrote, "Excited to break ground on the PV Sindhu Center for Badminton and Sports Excellence in Visakhapatnam! This isn’t just a facility; it’s the future—a bold step to elevate the next generation of champions and ignite the spirit of excellence in Indian sports. With the unwavering support of my amazing team and partners, we are building something that will inspire, empower, and shape the future of Indian sports for generations to come!!!!"

Following Padukone and Gopichand, the future of Indian badminton looks promising as champion players are now investing their efforts in advancing the sport.
This initiative has been supported through a partnership with Greenko, one of India’s leading Renewable Energy companies. She added, “With Greenko’s partnership and the steadfast backing of Greenko, I am confident this center will become a beacon of excellence and opportunity.”

The Academy planned will feature nine synthetic courts, a complete gym, and accommodation for 70 members. The Andhra Pradesh government granted the land to the former world champion after her victory in the BWF World Championship 2019. The development of the academy will be carried out in stages, aiming for an opening by Sankranti 2026, with the final touches to be added subsequently.
Saina Nehwal also received a green light from the Himachal Pradesh state sports department as it allocated a piece of land, spread across six and a half acres, in the city of Dharamshala to set up a badminton academy. The academy will be built on a 6.5-acre plot of land in Dharamshala, a hillside city at 1,457 meters above sea level.
