Indian Badminton contingent off to Thailand for Under 15 & Under 17 Asia Championships 2022

India's Unnati Hooda, and Tanvi Reddy & Durga Esha are the top seeded players in U17 Girls Singles and U15 Girls Doubles categories respectively in the Badminton Asia U17 & U15 Junior Championship 2022.

Indian Sub Junior Badminton players took off to participate in the Toyota Gazoo Racing Badminton Asia U17 & U15 Junior Championship, which is scheduled from 29th November to 4th December at Central Changwattana Mall in Nonthaburi, Thailand.

Behalf of the Badminton Asia Confederation, the thailand Badminton Association organises the tournament. In addition to Thailand, players from 15 countries including Malaysia, Japan, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Singapore, Taiwan, South Korea, Vietnam, Myanmar, Srilanka, Pakistan, and Kazakhstan are participating.

Indian contingent of 39 players have selected from the selection trial tournament All India Sub Junior Ranking Tournament Hyderabad, October 2022 and had a training camp ar Raipur during last week.

Unnati Hooda, and Tanvi Reddy & Durga Esha are the top seeded players in U17 Girls Singles and U15 Girls Doubles categories respectively in the Badminton Asia U17 & U15 Junior Championship 2022.

Here are few points for discussion....

1.While Srilanka plays with 57 players in Badminton Asia U17 & U15 Junior Championship 2022, what are the eligibility criteria which restrict Indian contingent size to 39 only?

2. In U17 Girls Singles, India is contesting with 03 players only, in contrast to Srilanka plays with 12 players, Japan plays with 07 players, and Indonesia plays with 09 players.

Does any ranking system decide the participation?
