FIR on Section 420 against Lakshya Sen for Age Fraud

This is not the first time, Lakshya's family had faced similar allegations over his brother and the allegations were successful during 2018. Chirag Sen, brother of Lakshya Sen, had been banned from U17 badminton events by BAI following this. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had said that manipulation in birth certificates had been consciously done by the parents of Chirag Sen.

In 2018, CBI had said that manipulation in birth certificates had been consciously done by the parents of Chirag Sen.

"The manipulation has been done under false declaration by misusing the provisions of Section 13 of The Registration of Birth and Deaths Act, 1969 to make eligible their child to play in lower age groups and make better performance compared to their peers and a result got sponsorship/grants, etc from respective state govts/central govt/PSUs and other institutions and consequential benefits," the report stated. Chirag Sen is now top 100 in BWF World rank and currently, age of 2, birth date of July 22, 1998 in BWF official website.

Now again, the allegations against Lakshya Sen's age fraud has been filed as FIR under IPC Sections 420 (cheating), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating) and 471 (using as genuine a forged record).

Though it is the second time on the same family and the first time was proven, questions are araised about the genuinity this time.

Lakshya has won gold medals at the 2018 Asian Junior Championships in the boys' singles and at the Summer Youth Olympics in the mixed team event. He won the bronze medal at the 2021 World Championships and was runner-up at the 2022 All England Open. Sen was also a part of the Indian team which won the Thomas Cup 2022. He also won the gold medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games held in Birmingham in men’s singles badminton. Recently he was awarded with India's most prestigious award for achievements in Sports, Arjuna Award.

In the complaint filed by Nagaraja MG, Bengaluru. Sen, according to records, Sen was born in 2001. Nagaraja claimed he was born in 1998.

As per the BWF record, Lakshya Sen got the entry to participate in his first international junior tournament in 2013, in the age of 12. In his age of 13, in 2014, he won his first junior international tournament, Swiss Junior Open 2014.

In 2015, during his age 14, he won Bronze in Asia U17 Men's Singles Championships held at Indonesia.

All the sponsors and funds from government and private bodies are based on his performances during the early ages. Without those funds, it was impossible to participate in 18 international tournaments during 2019, by average 1.5 tournaments every month.

Despite of the denial of the allegation by the Chief Coach, Vimal Kumar, this is the time for Sen and his family to prove the genuinity and keep the value sports high.
