World No. No.233 Ella Lin upset China’s third-seeded Xu Wen Jing, by 14-21 21-12 21-18 in Round 128. Lin came away disbelieving, unable to come to terms with the fact that she had actually beaten the higher-ranked Chinese.
“I didn’t have any expectations. I felt confident as I kept winning points. It was tiring. She was injured, so I thought I should take advantage and move her around. I’m not too sure what this means, but it feels good! It’s still sinking in!” said Lin.
In Round 32, Ella Lin defeated 11th seed Lucie Amiguet in a deciding 21-11, 15-21,21-15. She has reached the quarter-finals by stunning top-seeded players of the tournament. And her thriller journey was over in the quarter-finals defeat against China's Yuan An Qi, in straights 21-19,21-06.
